india Updated: Oct 18, 2006 18:28 IST

THE DISTRICT administration has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the IPC and banned use of firecrackers in Maharaja Tukojirao Cloth Market and Sitlamata Bazaar area on Diwali day.

The ban would be applicable in main road areas of these markets, Bada Sarafa and Chhota Sarafa and Khajuri Bazar main road, according to ADM Rameshwar Gupta.

“Action will be taken against any person or organisation defying the ban on crackers. Action will be taken under Section 188 of the IPC for defying the prohibitory orders,” Gupta said, adding, “the ban will be effective from 6 pm to midnight on October 21.”

The ban has been imposed to avoid any untoward incident in view of the large number of people who throng the market on the Diwali day and also to safeguard the shops from any fire accident, a release said here on Tuesday evening.
