A paramilitary trooper injured in an accidental blast during a training camp died on Thursday, police said.

The constable had suffered severe injuries on Wednesday when a hand grenade exploded during a special exercise at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) training camp at Firozpur Jhirka, some 90 km from here.

The deceased, Niranjan Kumar, was from Odisha.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Anoop Singh Dahiya told IANS that CRPF troopers were being trained on how to launch hand grenades when a bomb thrown by a trainee exploded mid-air.

"Instead of eight seconds after being lobbed, the grenade blasted in four seconds in the air," Dahiya said.

"Post-mortem examination has been conducted and the body of the deceased will be sent to his native place Friday."

Police officials in Mewat district of Haryana said six more paramilitary personnel were wounded in the blast. They are being treated in a Delhi hospital.
