The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is raising 10 new battalions of especially trained personnel to deal with the growing menace of terrorism in the country.
The CRPF, the largest paramilitary force in the world, is raising 10 new ‘Cobra´ battalions to fight terrorism, Additional Director General (Training) Yeshwant Malhotra told PTI in Neemuch on Friday.
The force will be equipped with modern gadgets and weapons and would be imparted training in handling of modern weapons and deal with cyber crime, Malhotra, who arrived in Neemuch on a brief visit to the CRPF’s training centre, said.
Nearly 1,000 CRPF personnel are undergoing training at 13 different places for induction into ‘Cobra´ battalions, he said.
They are being trained to handle GPS system, operate satellite phones and latest weapons, the CRPF official said.
