Curfew imposed in MP town after cricket match turns violent

Indefinite curfew was imposed this evening in Maksi township, about 25 kms from Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh, following violence between two groups during a cricket match in which at least six persons were injured, three of them seriously.

The announcement about the curfew was made by Shajapur district collector Rajendra Sharma.

Additional police force has been rushed to Maksi where the situation is said to be tense but under control, police said.
Stones were thrown from both sides and there were also incidents of arson, they said.
Some of the injured have been taken to Ujjain for treatment while the others were brought here.
