ACTRESS RANI Mukherji may have won many a heart for her on-screen performances, but her off-screen ‘actions’ belied this notion — at least here in Varanasi..
The occasion was a Press conference of the actress and the venue a five-star hotel at 8.30 pm on Monday. Contrary to the belief that the actress would come and regret the delay for her arrival at the venue — the actress came and avoided the mikes placed by the electronic media..
Her response to queries from the media was strange. As the mikes followed her, she said, “I have nothing to say”. Her reply to the very first question was –“Vahiyaat (uncomfortable) question”. And after that – “Next question? she asked. The odd behavior left many dumb struck. “We have come for a shooting — please let us do our work till we are here”, was her request loaded with taunts.
When asked what was the name of the movie for which she was shooting? her reply was: “I don’t know”.
After that she was asked who knows it? The response was “We are confused as are you. But, I play a role of a pure Banarasi girl.”
Also as to where does romance fit into her plans and who would be the man to walk into her life — the answer came—, “Aap hi dhoondo.”
However, she said her marriage would take less than ten years. She said her three movies – ‘Babul’, ‘Tara-Rum-Pum’ are being released shortly.
“So, this is your problem”, shot the bollywood actress at a reporter when he started posing a question. Next question? she asked. Where as the media exercised restrain, she was all fire and furious for about 20 minutes and moved inside her room, leaving behind Konkana Sen, another actress, who handled the media tactfully.
It may be mentioned that actresses Rani Mukherjee and Konkana Sen are in the town for the shooting of a Hindi movie, the name for which she and director Pradeep Sarkar said, is yet to be decided.
The movie is being shot under the banner of Yashraj Films.
Sources said Rani nurses a grouse against media, especially electronic channels who had reportedly made an attempt to talk to her at the shooting venue, which was refused.
