Curtains down on BU youth festival

THE THREE-DAY youth festival at Barkatullah University concluded on Saturday with prize distribution function. Former DG and member of the BU Executive Council Subhash Chandra Tripathi was chief guest on the occasion. Director of archaeology, archives and museums Pankaj Rag was the special guest.

THE THREE-DAY youth festival at Barkatullah University concluded on Saturday with prize distribution function. Former DG and member of the BU Executive Council Subhash Chandra Tripathi was chief guest on the occasion. Director of archaeology, archives and museums Pankaj Rag was the special guest.

The programme was presided over by vice-chancellor Prof R S Sirohi. Registrar Sanjay Tiwari, dean of students’ welfare Dr Sharma and other senior officers were present.

Tripathi said attending youth festivals always provide him extra energy and makes him feel honoured. Pankaj Rag called upon the students to enthusiastically participate in cultural and other extra-curricular activities along with academics.

Prof Sirohi also urged the students to take along less talented people in the stride and not try to humiliate them. He also asked them to strive for progress.

The first prize winner of various competitions are: group dance – Government Sarojini Naidu Girls’ PG College; solo dance – BSSS, Bhopal; miming – Government Narmada College, Hoshangabad; mimicry – Geetanjali College, Bhopal; skit – Government College, Timarni, solo classical singing – Government Hamidia College, Bhopal; solo singing – Sarojini Naidu Girls’ College; solo western singing – BSSS, Bhopal; group singing (western) – Sarojini Naidu Girls’ College; group singing

(Indian) – Sarojini Naidu Girls’ College; Rangoli – Government Hamidia College; instrumental (percussion) – Government College, Hoshangabad; instrumental (non-percussion) – Sarojini Naidu Girls’ College; painting – Government Hamidia College, clay modeling – Government College, Harda; collage making – Government Hamidia College; debate (for) – Satya Sai Women’s College, Bhopal, (against) – Sarojini Naidu Girls’ College, oratory – MVM College, poster making – Government Hamidia College, quiz – Institute of Excellence in Higher Education, Bhopal and Cartoon making – Government Hamidia College.
