It is time for the Capital to pedal on, as 120 cyclists from 16 countries will be participating in an international cycling event, Tour de Delhi — Cyclothon 2010, scheduled on August 29.
The event will be the second largest event in Asia in accordance with the international cycling norms regulated by UCI. The event will flag off the cycling test event for the Commonwealth Games under the aegis of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and Cycling Federation of India (CFI).
Chairman and managing director of ID Sports, Akil Khan, who is one of the organisers of the event, said the teams participating in the event will be from Germany, Holland, Belgium, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Iran, Hong Kong, Italy, Tabriz Petrochemical Cycling team and Karu Cycling team.
The event will follow the same route earmarked for the all races in the Commonwealth Games. The race will begin at Vijay Chowk, pass through Deen Dayal Upadhayay Marg and finally wind up at the starting point. The event will have nine stages of 13.7km each.
