Armed dacoits looted cash and valuables from occupants of the Gomoh-Chakradharpur Passenger near Kantadih station in the district, railway police said.

The dacoits, who boarded a compartment of 421 UP Chakradharpur Passenger via Adra at Urma, started looting passengers late last night as the train neared Kantadih, about 18 km from Purulia rail station in Adra Division of South Eastern Railway.

Ornaments, watches, cell phones and cash were robbed off from at least 15 passengers, including women. The gang members later fled.

The passengers lodged an FIR at Barabhum station and alleged there was no security personnel in the compartment when the dacoity took place.
