To reach out to Hindi-speaking followers, Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, on Saturday launched the Hindi version of his official website - www.thedalailamahindi.com - from his residence at McLeodganj.
This website is an addition to the already widely followed English, Tibetan, Russian and Mongolian versions of the website managed by his Dharamsala-based office.
“His Holiness often describes himself as “son of India” or “chella” (pupil) of “Guru” (teacher) so we thought of making his website available in Hindi too,” said spiritual leader's secretary Tenzin Taklah.
The new website will provide Hindi-speaking people access to the Dalai Lama's thoughts and other related news. Both the English and Hindi websites would be updated simultaneously by the Dalai Lama's office.
The English website was launched in 2005. Though not tech- savvy, the 77-year-old Nobel Peace Laureate has a huge fan following on cyberspace.
The Tibetan spiritual leader has a fan following of 12 million on social networking sites - Twitter and Facebook.
The social media accounts of the Dalai Lama are managed by a team in his office, headed by 33-year-old official photographer Tenzin Choejor.
