A witness to many visits of the Dalai Lama in Tawang, a 63-year-old teacher of Buddhist central studies at the Tawang monastery rues that the "simple" tour of the Tibetan spiritual leader has become a hot topic of discussion.
"I have been a part of all the visit of the Dalai Lama till date but the hue and cry is more today", says Urgan Tsering, who has been teaching Tibetan language to the students in the cultural studies centre in Tawang.
The monk laments that every time the Dalai Lama comes to Tawang, it becomes a matter of discussion.
"Very few people remember that the simple visit of Dalai Lama here is a historic occasion for us. His visit holds tremendous religious significance which every monk dreams of. But it is regrettable that people outside do not feel the same", he said.
Asked whether he will get a chance to be blessed by his holiness the Dalai Lama this time, the teacher said since he already has been blessed it will be better for the younger ones to seek his blessings.
"The young students have a future in their hands and have just started their studies and I think they need the Dalai Lama's blessings more than me", he said.
