ARMED MISCREANTS looted Kurla-Patna Superfast Express passengers near Itarsi on Saturday. Later, eight accused were arrested at Bagra. The police also recovered Rs 8,000 cash and three cell phones from them.

The incident took place in the general bogie of the train some forty minutes after the 2141 Down Express pulled out of the Itarsi Station at 11.50 am. Before Bagratwa Station, when the train entered a tunnel, the miscreants took advantage of darkness and looted three passengers.

After Bagratawa, the accused pulled the chain and fled. When the train reached Sohagpur, the passengers lodged a complaint. Thereafter, SP Ved Prakash Sharma and SDOP Samar Verma were informed about the incident. On SP’s instructions, a police team was dispatched to track down the looters.

The accused looted Rs 4,000 from Sarwan, Rs 3,000 from Devendra Kumar Sen and Rs 1,000 from Sunil. The accused are being interrogated.
