SONNET CLUB finished their league campaign on a disappointing note, losing to Daryaganj Gymkhana (DG) by five wickets in the DDCA Hot-Weather tournament at St. Stephen's ground.
It's been a forgettable season for the club as they have not advanced beyond the semifinal stage in any of the major tournaments this season. On Wednesday, it was an impressive all-round display from DG players that saw them through against their more fancied opponents. Ajeet Ranjan, who scalped 4 for 26, was the star of the match.
Sonnet 164 in 39.5ovrs (S. Singh 61, D. Singh 48; A. Ranjan 4-26) lost to DG 166 for 5 in 32.2 ovrs (H. Singh 43, S. Tyagi 46, S. Chaudhary 43; S. Sherawat 2-21) by 5 wkts.
