With the situation in the riot-hit localities of the old city in Hyderabad remaining peaceful during the curfew relaxation period on Thursday, authorities have announced lifting of day curfew for third day in a row for Friday.

No untoward incident was reported during relaxation of curfew from 6 am to 6 pm on Thursday under the areas of 25 police stations, though police maintained a strict vigil following the death of 48-year-old man at a hospital on Wednesday.

The toll in the communal violence rose to three after the death of the man, who died at Osmania General Hospital while undergoing treatment.

The victim, who was attacked with knives at Falaknuma on March 29, was battling for life and succumbed to his injuries yesterday, official sources said.

Apart from the death of three persons, over 90 others were injured after violent clashes broke out between members of two communities, prompting the City Police to impose indefinite curfew in 17 police stations of South Zone from March 29 and eight police stations of West, Central and East zones from March 30.
