Deb inaugurates BHEL hydro block

UNION MINISTER for Heavy Industries Santosh Mohan Deb dedicated to the nation the newly-constructed hydro block — BHEL Swarna Jayanti Block —in the City on Monday.

Deb used wireless remote control for opening the curtains of the foundation stone inscribed for the occasion. Later, a 120-feet wide curtain opened with showering of flowers and release of 1000 balloons in the sky through a control circuit.

Speaking on the occasion, Deb lauded the efforts of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited management and employees for taking the organisation towards excellence.

He expressed hope that the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited would strive to maintain this tradition of meeting the power aspiration of the country.

He said that the heavy engineering giant has already achieved many milestones and is always ready to face challenges. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri and Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Kanti Singh also expressed their views and remembered Jawaharlal Nehru for setting up the unit at Bhopal.   

Earlier, Deb laid the foundation stone for modernisation of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited plant at Prerna Sthal- the place where Jawaharlal Nehru dedicated the plant to the nation.

The speech delivered by the Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the time of dedicating the plant was also reproduced on the occasion. Chairman and managing director A K Puri along with other board members, former executive directors of Bhopal unit and many officials and employees were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, many trade union leaders met the Union Minister and submitted a memorandum highlighting their demands. BHEL Karmchari Trade Union president M W Siddiqui along with other union leaders also met Dev and drew his attention towards the prevailing problems of Bhopal unit.

President of Supervisory Ekta Manch K P Dwivedi, general secretary Shankar Kunhara and others also met the minister and handed over a memorandum.
