THE STATE Human Rights Commission’s (SHRC) recommendation to pay an interim compensation of Rs 50,000 to the family of a prisoner at Bhopal Central Jail, Prahlad, who had died due to carelessness in treatment has been accepted and money paid to kin of the deceased.
According a press release issued by the SHRC, the commission had taken cognisance of Prahlad’s death on receiving information about his death from the police headquarters. The jail superintendent was, later, asked to furnish post mortem report, panchnama and viscera report to the commission. The report of magisterial inquiry was also presented to the commission.
The SHRC found that Prahlad was being treated for TB without requisite tests for five years, which did not allow doctors to prescribe him the medicines required for his cure. Holding carelessness in treatment as one major reason for death of Prahlad, the SHRC had recommended interim compensation of Rs 50,000 to his kin, which the State Government has accepted.
