Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has taken his first step to achieve his Oscar ambition. The director has sent his film Delhi 6 for the Best Foreign Film category to Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association (IMPPA).
The next step would be the declaration of the film as India's entry to the Academy awards.
Producers strike has already reduced the competition for Mehra. The pre-requisite for an Oscar entry is that it should have been released or should be releasing between October 1, 2008 and September 30, 2009 and should have run for seven consecutive days at least.
The last date of submission of a film to the IMPAA is September 15.
