The PGTI Players Championship became a two-horse race soon after the start of the final round. Trailing the second-placed Sanjay Kumar by two strokes and three strokes behind overnight leader Himmat Singh Rai, Vinod Kumar slipped early on Friday.

Sanjay tried his best to overtake Himmat, but drawing level twice was the best he could achieve. The Delhi youngster didn't take long to nose ahead on each occasion and went on to win his maiden title after a round of one-under 69 which gave him a tally of nine-under 271. Sanjay was even for the day to total 273 and his dogged chase kept the contest alive till the final hole.

SSP Chowrasia played his third round of two-under to finish third with 274 at the Tolly Club.

“It's like a dream-come-true for me. In fact, the victory hasn't sunk in as yet. I was a little nervous at the start of the round today but the birdie on the second helped me settle down into my rhythm,” an ecstatic Himmat said after the end of the event.
