A 24-year-old Delhi Police constable has accused a sub-inspector of allegedly raping her, police said on Thursday. In her complaint, the constable alleged that despite being married, the sub-inspector married her and had physical relations with her.
The sub-inspector has gone untraceable after the matter came to light. According to the police, the sub-inspector, identified as Ravi Rathi, is posted with East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar Police Station. Rathi and the victim are both 2010 batch police personnel.
They met each other during their training and became friends. A police officer said Rathi is already married but he concealed this fact from the victim and proposed marriage to her. She agreed and they got married at a temple some days ago. Rathi then developed physical relations with the victim. "After getting physical with her, Rathi then started ignoring the victim.
About 15 days ago, the woman constable learnt that Rathi was already married. She then decided to teach him a lesson and approached the Najafgarh Police Station to lodge a rape case against him," said the police officer.
The official said the victim was sent to a nearby government hospital where her medical report confirmed that she was raped.
The police have registered a rape case against sub-inspector Rathi. Meanwhile, when Rathi got to know that an FIR was lodged against him, he escaped from his house. Police conducted raids at his house and his relative’s houses but he managed to give the cops a slip.
"Rathi is now absconding, we have informed his family and senior official about the matter, he will land in police net soon," the police said.
