The Delhi government is keen to provide world champion wrestler Sushil Kumar the designation of deputy director in the department of sports, a government source said here Monday.

Currently, Sushil is an Indian Railways employee and his coach Satpal Singh is an employee of the Delhi government.

"The government is working on a plan in this regard. It will take some time as Sushil will have to resign from the railways and the cabinet has also to clear the matter, following which a notification will be issued," a government source told IANS.

He said the government is very keen to take Sushil Kumar on its payroll and a designation of not less than deputy director in the sports department will be given to him if everything goes as per the plan.

Olympics bonze medallist Sushil Kumar also won gold in the freestyle 66 kg category at the Commonwealth Games, that concluded Oct 14.
