india Updated: Aug 02, 2006 09:18 IST

The servant who went missing after the shocking murder of an old couple in Central Delhi was on Wednesday arrested from Assam.

Sikander was arrested from Assam by a special team of Delhi Police who had been on his trail since the incident on Monday, a senior police official said.

Police has sent special teams to his hometown New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in search of Sikander who went missing after the murder of Devraj Goel, a retired income tax officer, and his wife Vimla Grover at their residence in East Park.

The Grovers had hired Sikander from Green Park placement agency four days before the incident.

Police on Tuesday questioned relatives of the couple, staff of the Green Park placement agency and a lady doctor, in whose house he had worked for three months before hired by Grovers, to find out the antecedents of the missing servant.
