A day before US President Barack Obama is to land in the city, Delhi police ‘sanitized’ the Capital rechecking all protection measures and held a joint mock drill with authorities of ITC Maurya, where Obama is staying, and US security officials.

Police sources said the President’s own bodyguards were at the hotel and on the floor where Obama will be staying. Delhi Police officials from the security unit will be posted at all parts of the hotel, except the President’s room. Sources said that an officer of ACP or Inspector rank will stand at the entry point of the floor

Obama’s Air Force One will land at IGI around 10 am Sunday.

At least three hours before the landing, Delhi police will secure the route from the airport to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Both carriageways on the route will be blocked for the convoy, said sources. There is a reception at Rashtrapati Bahwan at 10.30 am

The 50,000 men from the Delhi Police and paramilitary that will keep guard on R-Day will be on their routes from Sunday itself.

Police have also installed 15,000 cameras across Delhi, installed halogen lamps to increase visibility and erected towers on the Sardar Patel Marg for snipers and commandos.
