Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and colleagues Kumar Vishwas, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav are glued to TV on the first floor of party’s central office.

The crowd of AAP supporters at the Hanuman Road office has more than doubled since 10am. Kejriwal has already taken 55% of total votes, says Vishwas.

Supporters outside have started signing and singing. A chant going up is “Bhag gai re bhag gai ... Sheila Tai Bhag gai". Another popular one is "Bhrashtachar par chal gai jhadoo".

The news of Kejriwal leading Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, who has sent in her resignation to Delhi’s lieutenant governor, is being lustily cheered.

Scores of AAP volunteers are monitoring the election commission website, TV and punched updates on laptops. The party’s supporters have almost blocked Hanuman Road, prompting the police to put up barricades on approaching roads.

“Our party doesn’t worry about things like who will be chief minister. We worry about how to help the country,” Kejriwal said early this morning, a checked scarf wrapped tightly around him.
