Delhi woman ends life on Metro tracks

In the first incident of its kind, a woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train at Chandni Chowk on Tuesday morning.

In the first incident of its kind, a woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train at Chandni Chowk on Tuesday morning.

Twenty-five-year-old Paramjit Singh Kaur jumped onto the Metro tracks from platform number two of the Chandni Chowk station on the underground section of the rail network at around 9.20 am, DMRC sources said.

Police sources said Paramjit Kaur, wife of one Gurmeet Singh, was a resident of Ganesh Nagar locality in Janakpuri in West Delhi.

They said Kaur had been missing from her home since on Wednesday evening.

Traffic on the Central Secretariat-Vishwavidyalaya route was affected for over 40 minutes due to the incident, the sources said.
