Delhi youth commits suicide at Vaishno Devi

The deceased has been identified as one Brajesh Kumar, son of Brij Mohan and resident of J-58 Seemapuri, Delhi.

A 22-year-old youth from Delhi on Thursday midnight allegedly committed suicide at Katra - the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.

The deceased has been identified as one Brajesh Kumar son of Brij Mohan and resident of J-58 Seemapuri, Delhi.

Giving details, SHO police station Katra, inspector S S Sambyal told HT that "the deceased reached Katra and booked a room at Hotel Vaasu on Wednesday.

Brajesh then went to the holy Shrine the same day and returned on Thursday night to the hotel after paying obeisance at the shrine."

"As per the statements of the staff of the hotel, the deceased entered the room and locked it from inside. After few hours, when the staff of the hotel spotted no service call from that room, they knocked the room. But no one responded, following which the staff informed the police that broke open the door of the room and saw the body handing with a rope tied with the ceiling of the room," SHO Sambyal said adding that "the family members of the deceased have been informed and inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPc has been initiated to ascertain the cause of death.
