MAHILA SANGHARSH Samiti president Anuradha Bhargava has demanded that a case of murder should be registered against former Superintendent of Police of Bhind, Rajababu Singh, an IPS officer, in the death of sub-inspector Chetna Sharma. The police had registered an abetment to suicide case against Singh a couple of days ago.
Bhargava alleged at a press conference here on Friday that letters written by Chetna Sharma proved that she was murdered and Rajababu Singh was involved in it. She said that the CID investigation was proceeding in wrong direction. Chetna’s was not the case of suicide.
It was a case of sexual harassment and murder. Chetna, in a letter written to the National Women’s Commission, accused Singh of harassing her physically and mentally. The letter was posted on November 29, just a day before her death, claimed Bhargava.
Bhargava said if a case of murder were not registered against Singh, the Sangharsh Samiti would stage sit-ins and demonstrations all over the State. Besides, the Samiti would put the facts before the National Women’s Commission and Director General of CID.
She further said that sexual harassment of women at workplace was increasing and committees formed in accordance with the Supreme Court direction to monitor sexual harassment were not functioning.
