PEOPLE’S GROUP chairman Suresh Vijayvergiya has accepted to be patron of the Dental Students’ Welfare Association, comprising members of all private and government dental colleges in the State. Incidentally, People’s Group runs a private dental college near Bhopal.
“This is a unique development in itself. Vijayvergiya’s association this way would definitely help in solving problems of the students of private medical colleges,” Association chairman Dr Chandresh Shukla said in a release here on Tuesday. Expressing happiness, Vijayvergiya said he agreed to be associated with the dental students’ body in the interest of students.
Since its inception about three months ago, the Association has been able to attract more than 800 students from 10 dental colleges across the State, Shukla said adding, “We plan to enroll about 2,000 students till May 2007. Thereafter, we would venture at the national-level.”
After the membership drive at State-level completes in May, the Association plans to carry out an anti-tobacco and anti-cancer campaign for which it has received support from various social groups, the release added.
