IN A shocking development, five of the eight schools inspected by a team led by District Education Officer Dhirendra Chaturvedi in and around the city were found closed before time. The DEO visited these five schools and found them closed. The schools are: Primary School (Berkhedi), where salary cut was ordered for two teachers — Manorama Tiwari and Satosh Saraswat — apart from issuing show cause notice, Government Middle School (Nilbad) and Government Middle School (Ratibad) where it was also found that the Jan Shikshak D D Dohre was involved in irregularities in purchases.

Records were seized and show cause notice was issued to him. The DEO also went to Ratibad Primary School and Dogra Middle School and after finding them closed, issued show cause notices to the staff.

At Khurchani primary school, the students applauded the efforts of a guest teacher Rajesh Verma. At Government middle school Barjhari, it was found that a peon had been posted on invigilation duty of term exams. The exam in-charge was issued notice.

At Amla middle school, the team found that 30 girl students had not received uniform. The in-charge has been asked to give an explanation.
