Congress MP from south Mumbai Milind Deora (31) and entrepreneur Pooja Shetty married in a private ceremony at a city five-star hotel on Sunday evening.
The rituals were performed in both Marwari and Tullu styles. Attended by both families and close friends, the marriage ceremonies began on Saturday and would end on Monday morning.
Sources close to Deora family said a lavish reception would be held later this month in Mumbai because Milind and his father would be campaigning for the assembly elections in the four states.
The newly-wed couple is expected to have their honeymoon in Rajasthan, where Milind would be addressing election rallies.
The list of invitees for the reception will include the country’s top politicians, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet colleagues, industrialists, Bollywood actors and the glam brigade of Mumbai and Delhi’s fashion industries.
Youngest son of Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, first-time MP Milind met Pooja, the daughter of multiplex tycoon Manmohan Shetty, in New Delhi three years ago. Both got their higher education in the United States and returned home to pursue personal interests and run family business.
Milind entered active politics in 2004 to become one of the youngest MPs at 27.
