Johnny Depp will be honoured with Career Achievement Award at the 2009 Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) in Nassau. The event’s patron and superstar Sir Sean Connery will present the prize to The Pirates of the Caribbean star.
"There is no actor better suited to receive BIFF''s highest honour, the Career Achievement Award,” Contactmusic quoted BIFF founder Leslie Vanderpool as saying.
She added: “Johnny Depp is one of the finest actors of our generation and is, simply put, an icon. We''re all tremendously excited to bestow him with this honour and celebrate his incomparable career.
"What makes this tribute to Johnny even more special is that he has a home in the Bahamas and possesses a true love and appreciation for the region and culture. This will be an amazing and magical event for everyone involved."
The festival will be held from 10 to 17 December 2009.
Depp, who owns his own paradise retreat in the Bahamas, is a resident of the island.
