A 24-year-old Deutsch national was allegedly drugged, robbed and raped on Goa's beach near Anjuna on December 31 mid-night when the entire state was on high alert.
The Dutch girl who is in the state with her mother has filed a complaint with Anjuna police station accusing a group of Nigerians for the crime.
"We have received the complaint and sent her for medical examination. The report is awaited which will confirm whether there was a rape," a senior police officer stated. The examination was conducted at the state owned Goa Medical College and Hospital.
According to the complaint, the girl was taken to the beach drugged, her belongings were robbed and later raped. The police while confirming the theft said that the rape charges can be proved only after the medical report.
The woman who was not sure about the police station jurisdiction was reportedly shunted between two police stations before Anjuna police recorded her statement.
The complaint went from Mapsa police station to Pernem and later to Anjuna. The victim's mother has lodged a complaint.
Incidentally, Anjuna police who faced bad press for initial goof up in the British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling death case, this time, too preferred to remain tight lipped on the matter.
Sources confirmed that no arrests were executed till late night. The complaint, which is submitted two days ago, states that a group of Nigerians allegedly drugged, robbed and later raped her.
The victim is currently staying at Anjuna with her mother. Goa police have not issued any formal statement on the issue. When contacted Atmaram Deshpande, Superintendent of Police (Public Relations) said that he had no information about the incident.
