DGCA confirms reddy chopper airworthiness
The directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has confirmed that the Bell 430 helicopter, which is missing with Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on board, had its airworthiness certified till 2010.

The Certificate of Airworthiness is granted once every two years to every aircraft, besides regular checks and certifications that are issued periodically.
What’s more, DGCA said two extremely seasoned pilots, Captain S.K. Bhatia of the Indian Air Force and Captain M.S. Reddy of the Army Aviation Corps, with flying experience of over 3,000 hours each, were flying Reddy.
DGCA said the helicopter, which the Andhra Pradesh government acquired in 1998, had done over 3,000 hours of flying. And in its 11 years in service, it had never developed any severe snag.
