Opposition PDP on Thursday accused Jammu and Kashmir police chief of shielding the culprits involved in Shopian case and held him responsible for "fudging of the victims' DNA tests".
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti told a press conference here that Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kuldeep Khoda is trying to cover up the Shopian case, while the DGP was not immediately available for comment.
"Yes, the DGP is behind the fudging of DNA tests of the victims of the Shopian incident and also shielding the culprits involved in the heinous crime," Mufti said.
"An FIR was not lodged initially even as two women were raped and murdered," she said alleging police has destroyed evidences on the direction of the DGP, who is trying to cover up the case.
On the case being handed over to CBI, she said "what will CBI do now, all the evidences have been destroyed already".
Mehbooba also asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take notice of the "bad situation" prevailing in the state.
