india Updated: Sep 20, 2006 01:19 IST

DGP BUA Singh today directed field officers posted in three Naxal-hit districts — Mirzapur, Sonebhadra and Chandauli — to further strengthen the security arrangements.

Addressing a meeting of senior police officers here on Tuesday Bua Singh said that intelligence gathering should also be stepped up in the affected region. He said in view of rising activities of left wing terrorists in Chattisgarh more forces should be deployed in the three districts.

While laying stress on tracking down the source of supply of arms and ammunition to the Naxalites, Bua Singh said deployment of PAC and CRPF in these districts should be done properly. He said the UP police officers should have proper coordination with the their counterparts in Jharkhand, Bihar and Chattisgarh. He said police construction work going on in the region should be completed in time.

The DGP said that security should also be tightened in the jails where Naxalites had been lodged.
