Although most sequels in the west feature the same set of lead actors, our desi movies don't necessary follow this success formula.
Recently, Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns took off to Goa minus Sharman Joshi.
Now, it seems the sequel to Indra Kumar's Dhamaal will go on the floors without not one, but two of its original cast, Riteish Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi.
Soon after the comedy, also toplining Sanjay Dutt was declared a hit, Kumar and co-producer Ashok Thakeria started thinking of a sequel. The film also features Jaaved Jafferi and Aashish Chowdhry who were part of the first outing too.
A source informs, "Dutt has been paid his signing amount. He has committed dates in January-Feb ruary 2009 for a start-to-finish schedule."
Considering that Dutt is the biggest star of the film, the schedule is being planned around the dates he has com mitted. "But Riteish and Arshad don't have dates around the time so they won't be a part of Double Dhamaal," adds the source.
"Arshad has signed up for Marching Ants' maiden production venture, The Hit. Scheduled to take off early next year, the film is being directed by Rajeev Chudasama."
Chudasama, well known in the industry for his publicity design is a good friend of Warsi. Apparently, the actor had promised to act in his first film, and since Chudasama is also making his debut as a director with this film, Warsi is doubly excited.
In response to our query the actor replied via a text message, "I'm not able to manage the dates.. but I'm still trying to work some thing out."
Deshmukh maintains that he wants to do the Dhamaal sequel and is also "trying to work out the dates." Kumar unaware of Warsi's busy schedule, asserted, "As far as I know, both Riteish and Arshad are doing the film. But now that you've told me they are otherwise tied up, I'll speak to them soon."
