Four teenagers who were arrested on Tuesday for assaulting a Class 12 student in Dharavi have no previous cases against them, the police have said.

Prabhudas Nadar, Navinraj Harijan, Manimaran Pandiyan and Shivkumar Devendra were arrested by the Matunga police for kidnapping, threatening and assaulting Arun Tewar (18), a science student of SIWS College, Wadala on Monday.

“We inquired with other police stations but the four accused (three of them students) do not have any criminal record,” said Senior Police Inspector Sunil Deshmukh. “We did not come across any complaint from college authorities against Nadar, Harijan and Pandiyan.”

While Nadar and Harijan study in Sion’s Aryan College, Pandiyan is a student of SIWS.

The police have not yet recovered the mobile phone and gold chain the accused allegedly forcibly took from Tewar’s friend Michael Richard.
