THE INDORE police may soon be rewarded for its efficiency and alacrity in arresting a gang of dacoits of Bangladeshi origin that had struck terror in the City from New Delhi recently, if a proposal made today in this regard by former home minister and senior State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajendra Dharkar is accepted.

Dharkar said that seven major dacoities occurring within a short span of three months had rocked the City and raised a question mark on the state of security offered to the residents.

At one point in time it seemed that the City had been paying the price of becoming a cosmopolitan with a population of above 15 lakh and having an influx in the form of intra-migration of about 5,000 persons per day.

The ease with which the dacoits of Bangladeshi origin had been living in the City from the past four months and the way they had taken time out to study isolated colonies and determine their targets required that strict punitive action be taken against the house owners who had kept tenants without informing the local police despite an order requiring them to do so being in vogue.

BJP divisional spokesman Govind Malu said that the swiftness shown by the local police in apprehending such a dreaded gang was worth appreciating. A demand for ending cross border infiltration was also made from the Central Government.
