Dhoni's policy may be BCCI diktat: Bedi

india Updated: Feb 22, 2012 23:57 IST

MS Dhoni may have been forced to implement the rotation on senior players following a diktat by the BCCI, according to former Indian captain Bishan Singh Bedi, who said the controversial policy has dented the team's confidence.

A big debate is on over a possible rift in the Indian team after Dhoni began to rest the trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir in turn, and later cited their lack of fielding skills.

"I think Dhoni is being misled. Who knows, he is just expressing BCCI's diktat. I'm not convinced the players are bad fielders. If players are being rotated for the heck of it, I am not convinced," said Bedi.

"Players such as Sehwag and Sachin have some stature. I don't think they are slow. How many (fast fielders) you have?"

Bedi also felt BCCI should own up for the pathetic show in Australia. "I have not heard from BCCI on India's poor show. The Board should own up the responsibility."
