Leonardo DiCaprio has said that Kate Winslet deserves an Academy Award for her performance in Revolutionary Road, insisting that the honour is "long overdue" for the actress.

The ‘Titanic’ actress has never won an Oscar, even after being nominated five times— three times for Best Actress and twice for Best Supporting Actress.

However, DiCaprio is sure that this time the actress will take home the gong for sure, and he is adamant Winslet deserves to win a trophy.

"I absolutely do - I think that she is well deserved of that. She's been nominated so many times. She's such a talent, and able to convey so much complexity in her performances. It's long overdue,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

The ‘Aviator’ star was happy after Winslet won two Golden globe awards— Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for her roles in Revolutionary Road and The Reader respectively.

He said: "It was an unbelievable achievement. Not only one award, but two in one night is (amazing)."

The Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan 22.
