KARAN THAPAR’S arguments in Sen, sense and sensitivity (Sunday Sentiments, August 26) are contradictory. Ronen Sen was instrumental in finalising the deal, hailed by experts including Thapar as the single greatest triumph of Indian foreign policy in decades. Is it not too harsh to brand him as stupid, garrulous etc.? These diplomats and bureaucrats are the real performers and have access to behind-the-scene events. The substance of Sen's statement is correct. Stubborn politicians can’t have the last word on everything of national interest.
