The traffic diversion at Shankar Chowk on Gurgaon Expressway has been deferred. The plan was to come into effect from July 7, due to the ongoing Rapid MetroRail work.

The traffic police to allow safe and smooth procession of kanwarias on this stretch have put the plan on hold. The diversion will now be followed from July 17 or till the procession ends.

"Earlier, the diversion was planned for the construction of the Rapid Metro station near Gateway Tower (Shankar Chowk) from Saturday, but due to the kanwarias' possession it has been postponed. It will now take place after kanwaria possessions end," said a senior traffic police official.

Commuters coming from Sikanderpur/ Sector 56 and going towards Delhi will use the same route to reach NH -8, which is being used for going to Rajiv Chowk-Manesar.

Those coming from Sikanderpur/ Sector 56 and going towards Delhi will have to take a right from Rapid Metro pillar no. 103.

The stretch will meet the road that links IFFCO Chowk near the Gateway Tower.

However, commuters coming from Sector 56/ Sikanderpur and going towards Cyber City will not be affected.

The U-turn near Shankar Chowk for vehicles coming from IFFCO Chowk and going towards DLF Phase-2 will be blocked. Motorists will have to take a U-turn from the next point towards NH-8 (in front of Neha Nursery) to reach Cyber City and DLF Phase-2.

The diversion will be on for six months.
