WITH AN aim to spot local talents in view of the national-level Lata Mangeshkar Award, the State Government has decided to organise divisional and State-level competitions in light classical music.
The winners would get cash prizes of Rs 700, Rs 500 and Rs 300 at the divisional-level while it would be Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000 in various categories at the State-level.
The competition, to be organised by the State’s cultural department, for Indore division would be held at Shasakiya Sangeet Mahavidyalaya on March 31, college principal Rama Avasthi said in an official release here.
The candidates who wish to participate in the contest should submit their entries in the prescribed form at the Mahavidyalaya. Forms would be made available from March 1 and the last date for accepting duly filled forms is March 26. The contest would be held in two categories – juniors would fall in the 5-15 years age group while seniors would be in the 15-25 years age group.
The first and second spot winners in both categories can then take part in the State-level competition, which would be organised in Indore in the month of April, the release said.
The winners of State-level competition would receive Rs 15,000 (first), Rs 10,000 (second) and Rs 5,000 (third) in the senior category while those in the junior category would receive Rs 10,000 (first), Rs 5,000 (second) and Rs 3,000 (third).
