DMDK leader lashes out at Karunanidhi

india Updated: Apr 11, 2009 15:11 IST

Hitting out at Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, DMDK leader Vijayakant has alleged that his 'love for the Sri Lankan Tamils is only skin deep.'

Addressing election meetings in Virudhungar Lok Sabha constituency last night, he flayed Karunanidhi's appeal to the Sri Lankan government to treat LTTE leader Prabhakaran the same way Alexander the Great treated Indian ruler Porus who lost a battle against the Greek Emperor.

"This shows that the Chief Minister has failed to ensure ceasefire and save the Tamils," Vijayakant said, noting that Karunanidhi had been commended as a guiding star of the UPA by none other than Sonia Gandhi.

Organising fasts, demonstration and formation of human chains by the DMK front on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue was all a drama for seeking votes for Lok Sabha elections, he said.

Actor-turned-politician Vijayakant's DMDK is going it alone in the Lok Sabha elections.
