Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi on Saturday asserted ties between his party and the Congress were intact despite "innumerable efforts" to create enmity between them.
"Innumerable efforts have been made to sever relationship between Congress and DMK. But our firm resolve has defied all these endeavours to create enmity between us," he said.
"I convey my gratitude for your friendship and determination," the DMK patriarch told Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at the inauguration of the new Tamil Nadu Assembly-Secretariat Complex in Chennai.
Karunananidhi's comments come against the backdrop of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa's recent hints that her party was not averse to a tie up with Congress.
