It’s time to give a break to the size-zero diet regime. Christmas and New Year celebrations are around the corner, and the nip in the air will help you hide the extra kilos under thick sweaters and overcoats. Do away with the guilt pangs and dig into these sinful desserts.

Try the rich stollen bread at Ye Old Bakery, The Claridges, Aurangzeb Road. Executive chef Ravi Saxena’s recipe is made with alcohol-soaked dry fruits, lots of fruits and nuts, and almond paste. It is baked and deep fried, then topped with a thick frosting of icing sugar. Eat on the spot or get it packed.

Death by Chocolate is the dessert to dig into at Hyatt Regency, Bhikaji Cama Place. Chef Dieter Lengauer’s recipe has multiple layers, each of which has something delicious to offer: cherry brandy, chocolate mousse, brownie sponge, chocolate cream, chocolate chip ice cream, whipped cream and finally, chocolate brandy schnapps. Phew! Make sure to order 24 hours in advance.

Don’t have a date? Feeling depressed? Pamper yourself with a fluffy plum cake. Chef Bijner Singh of Tivoli Garden Resort, Chhattarpur, makes it using butter, raisins, cashew nuts, tutti fruitty, pineapple flowers, candy peel and mixed fruit jam. Have it there or take some home.
