A sonologist committed suicide after brutally killing his wife, in-laws and his six-month-old daughter over a family dispute at a flat in Palasia Road under Bhanwarkuan police station.
The matter came to light on Sunday afternoon but the police said the incident might have taken place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. A four-page suicide note was also found from the spot.
Dr Rohit Dwivedi hailed from Satna while his wife Dr Priyanka was from Patna.
As per the police, Priyanka was an assistant professor of gynaecology in a medical college in Indore but was on maternity leave at present. She had come to Indore with her parents and her daughter on Saturday. Her father was a retired bank officer living in Patna.
The matter came to light when Rohit’s father Ganesh Dwivedi, residing in Bhopal, called him at around 8am on Sunday. Rohit was stammering in fear and said he was in no condition to talk.
Ganesh had reached Indore on Saturday night where he was supposed to meet Rohit’s in-laws to sort out some dispute. After failing to locate the address and not getting any response from his son, he stayed at a hotel.
On Sunday morning, Ganesh took help of the police to locate his son’s address. They found the house locked from inside.
Rohit killed PC Pandey, Savitri, Priyanka and strangulated their infant daughter Suhi, and then hanged himself.
“The suicide note is very elaborate in which he said he was continuously abused and provoked by his in-laws,” said SP (East) OP Tripathi.
The SP further said that some sharp-edged weapon was found in the house which looks like a surgical equipment. There were multiple injuries on all the bodies.
“The bodies of the adults were found in pools of blood on the floor of one room while the infant was found on the bed,” said the SP.
Rohit’s neigbour said he had been living in this rented flat for the last one year.
