Dr Ravindra Kumar, whose longtime girlfriend and her new beau hired people to kill him, was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. However, Kumar is in shock after getting to know of the involvement of his girlfriend in the incident.

Dr Kumar was shot at in front of Wardhman Hospital in Rohini on May 27 and the police, after investigation, arrested on Monday Kumar's girlfriend Dr Meenakshi her new husband Dr Vinod Gupta, along with four contract killers for the attack.

Dr Kumar was attacked two times earlier too but he had thought a property dispute to be the motive behind it.

Kumar's brother said nobody suspected Meenakshi because she visited Kumar when he was in hospital after the first two attacks on him.

"In July 2009 and February 2010 when Ravindra was attacked, Meenakshi visited him in the hospital. During her visit she didn't show any sign that she was behind the attack. Ravindra also couldn't have imagined Meenakshi's involvement in the crime," said Trilok, Kumar's elder brother.

According to Kumar's family he said he "would have walked away" if she had told him about her intention.

"He loved Meenakshi so much that he is still not able to believe her involvement. He feels guilty as he had been fighting the family to marry her for so long," Trilok said. "We hope he can now lead a peaceful life. The whole family was stressed as we didn't know the reason behind the attacks."
