He misses his mother but shudders even to think about his father. Six-year-old Bunty was found crying at the Dehradun railway station by passersby on Saturday evening. Someone informed the police about him.

“I ran away from home by train as my father beats me regularly. He does not love me, said Bunty with a smile and a stutter.

“But I am missing my mother. She must be worried as I am not at home.”

Now the Kotwali police in Dehradun are facing problems locating this Class II student’s parents. Police said Bunty doesn't know his address or even the name of his school in Delhi.

Although he managed to tell the policemen his name, Bunty has not been able to give other information to ascertain his identity. The police are in touch with their counterparts in Delhi to get more details about the child.

“It seems the boy stays somewhere near New Delhi railway station as he knows about Ajmeri Gate. He says his father is a mason called Hussain Khan and his mother Murshida is a housewife,” said Kailsah Panwar, in-charge Kotwali police station.

Although Bunty took the 'big step' of leaving him behind, he is missing his younger brother with who he “used to play daily”.

He told the police that he has a younger sister as well. But his clearest memory is of beatings received from his father.

“My father beats me, as I am very weak in studies. I do not want to go to school,” said Bunty.

The child has become friendly with policemen at Kotwali police station who are taking care of all his demands and have even bought him a new t-shirt and a pair of trousers.
