As the Class 12 board examinations are nearing, I recall the days when I sat for these crucial examinations.
After having scored 93% in Class 11 and topping the school, I was pretty confident in Class 12 that I will give my contemporaries a hard time. However, as the months passed by, things weren't on the right track. I felt as if I was standing on the edge of a hill with not-so-great marks in pre-boards,.
It was really difficult for me to manage everything at the 11th hour. To make my preparations easier and well-managed, I always used to gaze upon the walls of my room wherein I had pinned upon a couple of pieces of paper with SRCC written over it. This not only used to encourage me to work hard but also enhanced my efficiency in working towards my desired objective i.e. to get in to so-called top college of the commerce in the country.
All efforts and hard work paid off when results were out. I scored 95% and was confident that I would definitely make it to the college of my choice. Many students in my locality had also scored around 94% and I really wished to see them around in the college. My excited parents distributed sweets among all the friends and relatives. I was being teased by friends about going to SRCC.
However, this excitement and happiness were short-lived. The first-cut off list touched a sky-rocketing 100%. However, my family and friends kept my hopes high saying that I might make it to the second list. Unfortunately, I couldn't. I thought realistically and concluded that I won't be able to make it to SRCC.
Therefore, I applied to Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce and finally got admission there. Soon, I realised my decision was right. I didn't let high-cut offs cut my dreams short.
