The South African media has added a section on the Indian Premier League with interesting stories of Indian celebrities that have descended there and their connection with cricket.

“Cape Town has this week been taken over by Bollywood stars and some of the richest people in the world yet these IPL team owners are just part of the intrigue of the tournament,” said local newspaper ‘The Star’.

Even though it obviously was not following the action closely in IPL-I, the report managed to get the essence of cricket’s and Bollywood’s attraction in India.

The newspaper mixed up the ownership of two IPL teams involved in the opener - Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers.

It is indeed a far cry from the days when people perceived India to be the land of snake charmers and such exoticism. About time, we say, about time indeed!
