Dortmund stadium will host Germany and Brazil squads, at the start of the tournament. With six matches to be played on its ground, Dortmund will also stage a semi-final.

The stadium underwent two reconstruction phases in 2001 and 2005 each. The first phase was meant to increase the seating capacity by joining the four individual stands.

The second phase incorporated many changes like, introduction of a new VIP section; a new electronic access system, providing back rests to the lower tier seats, to name a few.

The Dortmund stadium is home to Borussia Dortmund.
